Here is the description of capabilities pertaining not only to LeoBase, but also to other DBMS:

1) LeoBase allows the user to create different data types which DBMS will support as native. It means that fields with a user’s data types will be used in all operations supported by LeoBase. This capability permits adding information maintenance to any application domain. 

2) LeoBase supports records of variable length. Moreover, empty fields do not occupy any place on hard disk and fields of string type occupy only as much disk space as they need for their optimal storage. This allows specifying the maximum size of strings without thinking about the size of a database.

3) A flexible locking system allows users to modify simultaneously disjoint parts within one database and one record. Any request which does not modify anything and any operation of adding new records do not need to lock the database and they are processed immediately.

4) There is a mechanism of instant snapshots that allows viewing the content of databases at the beginning of any previous transaction without database backup (for example, to know the content of a database which it had a week ago).

5) LeoBase supports indexing by one and several fields. Moreover, fields included in the index can be stored both in one database and different ones.

6) There is the ability to perform an intellectual rollback of actions carried out by a specific user within a certain period of time. This allows removing all changes made by this user and save those changes made by other users during the same period of time.

7) LeoBase makes it possible to write all changes of a database in a special database journal, including information who and when made these changes.

8) The subsystems of updating and replications make it possible to maintain consistency of databases stored on several devices.
